Indian mobile service providers Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have both announced their reduced roaming tariffs.
These two companies have also announced the scrapped rental rates for roaming services. These announcements are to meet the recently released guidelines issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India last month.
Bharti Airtel said that they have now slashed roaming charges by 56%. They have also now waived off the roaming rental of Rs 49 per month.
In addition, their local calls while roaming will be charged at Rs 1.40 per minute. STD calls would be charged at a fixed 2.40 per minute. Incoming calls on roaming would cost Rs 1.75 per minute.
Sanjay Kapoor, joint president (mobile services), Bharti Airtel added on these new announcements: “We now usher in an era of simplified roaming tariffs wherein all Airtel mobile users will benefit from our seamless network and have the opportunity to make calls while traveling anywhere in India.”
Reliance on the other hand has announced that they are reducing their roaming charges by up to 44% on its pre-paid connections. They have not been charging any roaming fees from their customers.

Bharti Airtel is the largest private telephony company in the Indian market. They provide both landline and mobile services in addition to broadband services.
The company has said in a statement that its investments in the mobile phone market would reach four billion dollars in the two years ending 2008.
Most of these investments have been made in improving their network in countryside regions.
A company spokesperson said: “Bharti Airtel has invested about two billion dollars in the financial year 2006-2007 and plans a similar investment in 2007-2008.”
Bharti Airtel wants to improve their reach in the rural regions in India. The company is also asking the government to get BSNL and MTNL to “share its infrastructure with private operators.”
Bharti Airtel is erforming well.
With news of some major expansion in broadband field coming up, Bharti airtel’s share is moving up and up on BSE.
They have reported a profit of few hundred crores.
Bharti Airtel is really doing well.
For some reason i thought of using Airtel’s Broadband again. I don’t know why but i again started believing that it may provide better services this time around, than what they did before.
I think this time around i am very much satisfied Airtel Broadband.
256 Kbps for an Unlimited connection at 999 INR is not a bad deal considering the fact that now their connection quality is much constant, consistent and better. What else do you need?
Well, state of art customer care helpline. I was impressed by the way their agents help you out. Nice to talk to. And eager to solve your problem at the earliest.
Wow, is that really Airtel
Well Done!
I wanted a broadband at home in Pune and I was approached by AirTel Sales person (some Dhirendra). I specifically asked him if I get a static IP or not. He was unable to answer this (as well as many of my other questions) and hence contacted his superior (Ashvin Soni). I talked to Mr.Soni and he promised that I will be given a static IP. Finally I decided to go for it.
To my surprise when the technician came to install, he said that AirTel doesn’t provide static IP to residential customers and I am promosed something that is out of AirTel policy and I will have to live with a dynamic IP.
I have now asked them to disconnect the broadband.
I am surprise to see this kind of practice in a company like AirTel. Sales people promise anything to achieve their target! I am trying to contact the sales person Dhirendra but he is not picking up his phone
. What a professional attitude.
Mr. Mittal are you reading this!!!!!
